The 8th Annual Catholic Health Suffolk County Marathon to Support Our Veterans will be held Saturday October 22, 2022, with the 5K and 1K Kids Fun Run and the Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K will run Sunday, October 23rd, 2022, both hosted by Catholic Health Services.Suffolk County is home to over 1.5 million people, including 90,000 veterans residing in Suffolk County, Catholic Health Service is proud to host this event and hope you can join us in honoring our local heroes.

What races will be run in the Suffolk County Races?

The races on Sunday will begin in the Village of Babylon and finish in Gardiner County Park, located in West Islip. Athletes running the Half & Full Marathon will run one of the most scenic courses on Long Island, as they cross the Robert Moses Causeway. Click for a full list of the course maps for each race. The Marathon raises money to benefit veterans and to date, the Suffolk County Marathon has raised over $700,000 for local veterans’ services.

The race will consist of a 1K Kids Fun/Run, 5k Run/Walk, 10k Run/Walk, 13.1Mile Half Marathon and a 26.2 Mile Marathon.The Catholic Health Suffolk County Marathon has a new course with this year's race, starting in Babylon Village, Run East on Montauk Hwy, before running over the Great South Bay towards Captree, Athletes will then run back over the bridges and finish in Gardiner County Park. Only runners registered in the Half and Full Marathon will get the “Run the Bridges”, a run across the Great South Bay.

For the really serious runner, the Suffolk County Marathon is offering runners to participate in 2 races in 2 days consisting of a 10k and 5k Run, a 13.1 Half Marathon and 5k Run, or a 26.2 Mile Marathon and 5k Run.

How else can I support our veterans?

The Catholic Health Suffolk County Marathon offers another way for you to support our veterans if you cannot make the event. You can sign up for a Virtual Mission/Challenge. The Mission will be to Run/Walk, Swim or Bike as many miles as participants can from October 1 through October 31, 2022. The miles can be indoor, outdoor, or a treadmill. Simply log your miles daily and post your results on the Suffolk County Marathon Virtual Event page on Facebook. Click for more information and to sign up.

Since pets are not allowed in the races, the Catholic Health Suffolk County Marathon offers another way for you to support our veterans. You can sign up for a Dog Mile Mission. The Mission will be to Run/Walk with your dog from October 1 through October 31, 2022. The miles can be indoor, outdoor, or a treadmill. How can I volunteer at the Suffolk County Marathon?

Volunteers can choose to assist in one of six categories from helping in the Expo, assisting on the Race Course, helping with Registration on race day, and so much more. For more information about volunteering, becoming a sponsor, or making a donation.

Are there festivities after the Marathon?

Immediately following the races on Saturday October 22 and Sunday October 23, Suffolk County Health will host Freedom Fest, an outdoor festival featuring live music and entertainment, arts and crafts, local artisans and businesses, children’s activities, local food, and craft beer. Freedom Fest offers an exciting opportunity for business to reach new customers, build overall brand awareness, and drive repeat visitations to Suffolk County.
