1. What is an Internet data plan?
An Internet data plan is the amount of data that may be consumed as part of your Internet service from Suddenlink.
Everything you do online will use Internet data. This includes writing emails, streaming music and movies, and playing video games. As part of your Suddenlink Internet service, there may be a set amount of data included in your service price for each billing period.
2. How do I know what my plan is?
To determine if there is a monthly Internet data plan associated with your account – and what that plan is – please log in to your online account. If you don’t yet have an online account, visit Suddenlink.net and follow the registration instructions there; then choose "My Services."
3. How do I know how much Internet data I have used?
You can log in to your Suddenlink.net account at any time to view your “Data Plan Summary” and review the amount of Internet data you have used. If you don’t yet have an online account, visit Suddenlink.net and follow the registration instructions there.
If you are the primary account holder you can view the “Data Plan Summary” from the “My Services” or “Online Tools” links on the "My Account” tab.
If you are a secondary user, you can view the “Data Plan Summary” from the “My Services” link only.
You can set up a preferred email address to receive usage notifications on the “Data Plan Summary” page. To do this, select the “Update Notification Preference” link under “More Information”. For more on Internet data plan alert notifications see “How will I be notified when I go over my Internet data plan?” below.
4. How will I be notified when I go over my Internet data plan?
We will send email notifications and browser alert messages at the following times:
- When the Internet data usage exceeds 70% of the monthly data plan
- When the Internet data usage exceeds the monthly data plan
Please note that in order to receive email notifications you must have a preferred email address on file. You can set up a preferred email address to receive usage notifications on your “Data Plan Summary” page. To do this, select the “Update Notification Preference” link under “More Information”. The delivery of browser alert messaging depends on settings of the sites that you visit.
5. What happens if I go over my Internet data plan?
When you go over your plan, data is added in 50 GB blocks at a cost of $15 per block. As a courtesy to you, we will waive any incurred charges the first time your account usage exceeds your data plan. You can check your current usage on Suddenlink.net at any time.
We will also email and send browser alert messages when the Internet data usage exceeds 70% of the monthly plan and when the Internet data usage exceeds the monthly data plan.
Make sure you have an updated email on file to ensure you are receiving our communications. The delivery of browser alert messaging depends on settings of the sites that you visit. For more on Internet data plan alert notifications see “How will I be notified when I go over my Internet data plan?” above.
6. If I go over my Internet data plan limit, when will I see the charges on my bill?
Internet data overage charges will appear on your billing statement within two months of when the overage occurred. The charges can be found in the “ONE TIME ACTIVITY” section. You can check your usage at any time by logging into your account and clicking on the “Online Tools” link.
You will be charged $15 per 50 GB of additional data used above your monthly data plan. As a courtesy, your account will not be billed for exceeding your plan until the second and following overages.
7. How can I increase my Internet data plan?
In most areas, we offer unlimited Internet data with our highest speed offerings. To learn more about the options available in your area, visit “My Account” and click on “Update Plan”.
8. When does my Internet data limit reset?
Your Internet data limit resets at the beginning of each billing period, which can be found on your monthly bill. You can also check your “Data Plan Summary” on Suddenlink.net, which will show you the current period and usage as of the prior day.
9. Can I roll over any unused Internet data to the next month?
Internet data plans are reset each month when your billing period starts, and excess data cannot be carried over. If you would like additional data each month, please visit Suddenlink.net to see what plans with higher data limits or unlimited data are available in your area.
