Small businesses in Lubbock, Texas have a new opportunity to secure funding. On September 22, 2026, Optimum Business and the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce announced the Lifting Up Small Business Grants program, which will award $5,000 grants to 25 local small businesses, a total investment of $125,000 in the Lubbock business community.
Whether you run a family restaurant, a retail shop, a service business, or a growing startup, here is what you need to know about the program and how to put your business in the running.
The Lifting Up Small Business Grant is a local grant initiative created to support the long-term success of small businesses in Lubbock. Optimum Business serves as the program's founding partner, and the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce is collaborating to administer it and connect with local business owners.
The structure is simple: 25 businesses will each receive a $5,000 grant. Unlike a loan, a grant does not need to be repaid, which makes it especially valuable for small businesses that want to invest in growth without taking on new debt.
Small businesses are a cornerstone of local economies. They create jobs, keep dollars circulating in the community, and give neighborhoods their character. Yet many small business owners face tight margins and limited access to capital, so even a modest injection of funding can make a real difference.
A $5,000 grant can help a business owner tackle projects that are often put off, such as:
Small investments like these can help a business attract new customers, operate more efficiently, and build a stronger foundation for the future.
Amanda Seabaugh, Vice President and General Manager at Optimum, emphasized the role local businesses play in community prosperity: "Small businesses are the backbone of a thriving community, driving local jobs, innovation and economic growth." Nick Atwood, President and CEO of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, echoed that sentiment, noting that "small businesses are at the heart of Lubbock's economy and are a driving force behind the growth and opportunity" seen across the community.

Grant recipients are expected to be announced this winter. Optimum Business also plans to host recognition events with local officials and community partners to celebrate the winners and their contributions to Lubbock.
The Lubbock program reflects Optimum Business's broader effort to invest in the communities it serves. The company runs similar small business initiatives in other markets, including the L.O.C.A.L. Small Business Grant program on Long Island, New York, which has awarded nearly $750,000 to more than 130 small businesses since 2024. These programs share a common goal: giving local entrepreneurs flexible resources to invest in what matters most to their businesses.
Each of the 25 selected businesses will receive $5,000, for a total of $125,000.
