Optimum Empowers Co-op City Residents with Enhanced Connectivity and Community Support

Best-in-class connectivity solutions paired with dedicated, local engagement efforts that truly support the Bronx’s largest cooperative

At Optimum, supporting communities isn’t just a commitment – it’s an ongoing mission. In Co-op City, the Bronx’s vibrant cooperative neighborhood, Optimum has stepped up with innovative services and meaningful local engagement to help residents stay connected with loved ones around the world while strengthening ties at home.

Faster Internet Speeds for a Seamless Experience

As part of Optimum’s ongoing commitment to delivering the best connectivity at a great value, we’ve upgraded Internet speeds for thousands of customers – at no additional cost and with a five-year price lock. Now, more Co-op residents are enjoying blazing-fast speeds of up to 1 Gig. These enhanced speeds mean local residents can stream their favorite shows, browse the web, connect with family and friends over video calls, and play online games – all at the same time, on any device, with greater consistency and reliability than ever before.

Bridging Distance: Free Calling

Recognizing the importance of affordable international communication, Optimum responded to Hurricane Melissa by providing free calling and texting (SMS and MMS) from the United States to Jamaica for current Optimum Mobile and Optimum Phone customers. Free calling and messaging are available through January 31, 2026, to enable residential and business customers on Optimum’s network to reach out to loved ones during the aftermath of this historic storm during the holiday season and beyond.

Investing Locally to Make a Difference

Optimum’s dedication goes beyond connectivity – it extends directly into the heart of Co-op City’s community life. In partnership with local leaders and organizations, Optimum has supported several impactful events throughout the year. A few examples include:

  • Backpack Drive in August 2025: Optimum contributed $2,000 in collaboration with Senator Bailey, Assembly Member Benedetto, Representative Latimer, and Council Member Riley, ensuring students started the school year prepared and confident.
  • Hispanic History Month Celebration in September 2025: By supporting this vibrant celebration, Optimum helped honor the rich cultural heritage of Co-op City’s Hispanic residents.
  • Thanksgiving Drive in November 2025: Optimum donated $2,500 for the Bronx Co-op City Thanksgiving Turkey Distribution, organized by Senator Jamaal T. Bailey, City Council Member Kevin Riley, Assembly Member Michael Benedetto, Congressman George Latimer, and Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson.

Optimum remains committed to empowering Co-op City through both technology and meaningful community engagement. Whether it’s helping families connect across continents or lending a hand in ways that matter most to local residents, Optimum is proud to stand with Co-op City every step of the way.
