Optimum Deepens Commitment to Education with over $200,000 in Back-to-School Support Across Its Local Communities
From classroom support across the country to backpack giveaways in the New York Tri-State area, Optimum is helping students, teachers, and families prepare for a successful school year
As students and teachers get ready to head back to school, Optimum, a leading provider of fiber internet, mobile, and TV services, is once again showing up for the communities it serves with programs designed to help young learners feel prepared, supported, and excited for the year ahead. Across its 21-state footprint, the company has committed over $200,000 to support back-to-school events, provide essential supplies, and invest in classrooms through its continued partnership with national education nonprofit DonorsChoose.
These efforts reflect Optimum’s broader commitment to education, digital literacy, and community engagement, connecting customers to what matters most while supporting the students, educators, and families who help each local community thrive.
Supporting Classrooms Nationwide Through DonorsChoose
Optimum is continuing its partnership with DonorsChoose to help public school teachers secure funding for resources that will help their students thrive. Through this long-standing partnership, Optimum is helping students across the company’s service area access tools, technology, and learning experiences. Optimum’s efforts through DonorsChoose include:
- Matching donations to eligible requests on DonorsChoose in communities across its footprint, including the Bronx, Brooklyn and Texas. This matching support will help teachers bring critical resources to their students while making it easier for local donors to double the impact of their contributions.
- Providing support connected to back-to-school and teacher appreciation events in Texas, Louisiana, North Carolina, West Virginia, Arkansas, and New York, including contributions tied to Bryan ISD’s Back to School Bash, College Station’s Adopt-a-School Ceremony, Military Back to School Night in Bossier City, new teacher appreciation events in Hendersonville and Greenville, and teacher gift card programs in Georgetown, Beckley, Russellville, and Cabot.
- On Long Island, contributing $50,000 across the Hempstead Union Free, Roosevelt Union Free, Uniondale Union Free, and Westbury Union Free School Districts, as well as Central Islip Senior High School.
Optimum’s partnership with DonorsChoose has supported more than 6,000 public school classrooms across the country since 2020, helping fund projects that give teachers and students access to needed resources. This year’s back-to-school support builds on that work and reinforces Optimum’s commitment to helping educators create meaningful learning opportunities in the communities where its customers and employees live and work.
Backpack Giveaways with News 12 and Warner Bros. Discovery
Optimum’s back-to-school efforts continue this year in the New York Tri-State area, where the company is teaming up with News 12 and Warner Bros. Discovery for the sixth consecutive year to host backpack programs that bring families together and help students start the school year strong. The events will provide backpacks filled with school supplies and feature community-focused activities such as music, refreshments, and family-friendly programming with support from local nonprofit and community partners.
This year’s backpack programs will support communities across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, with events planned on Long Island; in the Bronx and Brooklyn; in Elizabeth, Paterson, and Passaic, New Jersey; and in Stamford, Connecticut. Local partners include the Cradle of Aviation Museum, The Morrisania Revitalization Corporation, Church-Flatbush Community Alliance, KingCares, Madison Square Boys & Girls Club, Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey, and the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford.
Together, Optimum, News 12, and Warner Bros. Discovery are helping families access the supplies students need while creating celebratory moments that reflect the unique spirit of each community.
Support for local Boys & Girls Clubs
Across its service area, Optimum supports Boys & Girls Clubs with financial contributions, high-speed internet services, and STEM learning opportunities that help inspire innovation and growth among young people. This back-to-school season, Optimum is committing funds to Boys & Girls Clubs in Stamford, Connecticut; Elizabeth, New Jersey; Brooklyn, New York; and Paterson and Passaic, New Jersey, with additional support planned for clubs throughout the year.
Connecting Communities to What Matters Most
Whether distributing backpacks, celebrating teachers, matching classroom donations, or funding school needs, Optimum’s back-to-school initiatives are rooted in a simple goal: helping students start the year ready to learn. By partnering with trusted organizations and investing directly in local schools and classrooms, Optimum continues to deepen its community presence and support the next generation of learners and leaders.
