News 12 Receives Two National Edward R. Murrow Awards

National recognition celebrates the powerful storytelling and hyperlocal journalism behind “Trafficking in Tri-state: Rooms Without Rescue” and “Long Live Marcus Rogers.”

News 12, the preeminent hyperlocal news source across the New York tri-state area, has earned two 2026 National Edward R. Murrow Awards, one of broadcast and digital journalism’s most prestigious honors. The recognition reflects News 12’s continued commitment to telling meaningful hyperlocal stories with depth, compassion and impact.

News 12 was recognized in the Large Market Television division for “Trafficking in Tri-state: Rooms Without Rescue,” a News 12 investigation from the Turn to Tara team that examines human trafficking in the tri-state area and the critical gaps facing people in need of safe, immediate support. The network also received a national award for “Long Live Marcus Rogers,” which follows members of a hockey community in Connecticut as they preserve the legacy of a former player who was killed in a car crash.

“These national Murrow Awards are an extraordinary honor and a testament to the talent, care and dedication of our entire News 12 team,” said Audrey Gruber, Senior Vice President and General Manager of News 12. “From exposing the realities of human trafficking in the tri-state area to honoring the legacy of a beloved athlete in Connecticut, these stories demonstrate the power of hyperlocal journalism to inform, connect and make a lasting impact. We are incredibly proud of the News 12 journalists who brought them to life.”

The Edward R. Murrow Awards are presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) to recognize outstanding achievements in broadcast and digital journalism. News 12 will be honored alongside fellow national winners at the Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala in October in New York City.

Congratulations to the News 12 journalists, producers, photojournalists and team members whose work made this national recognition possible.
