Before installing your Ethernet/NIC, turn off your computer and unplug it from the electrical outlet. Once you have opened the case and are ready to proceed, it's a good idea to periodically ground yourself to prevent against possible static discharge (you can do this by touching an unpainted metal part of the computer case). |

- Open computer (you may need to unscrew and remove case).
- Unscrew and remove spacer plate* from either an open PCI or ISA slot, depending on your machine's configuration.
- Slide the Ethernet/NIC into the appropriate slot until it clicks.
- Screw the Ethernet/NIC into the slot.
- Reattach case to the computer.

* The spacer plate is a covering for one of the open slots in your computer. By removing it, you'll be making room for your new Ethernet/NIC.
